Jeanne Dooley is founder and president of Jeanne Dooley Golf and JumpStart Golf, Atlanta’s premier golf instruction programs that use revolutionary technology to teach and improve a player's golf game. A successful PGA golf professional and talented teacher of the game for more than 20 years, Dooley founded Jeanne Dooley Golf to offer golf instruction for the 21st century through the combination of sophisticated technical systems, a controlled environment and expert professional guidance.
A focused, dedicated professional, Dooley knows golf and she’s good at her game. Growing up in Middlesboro, Ky., she learned to play and love golf at her hometown club. A standout in high school, she played sporadically during college and continued to hone her skills during summer club jobs. After graduation she relocated to Longboat Key, Fla., near Sarasota and played on the Future’s Tour.
The challenge of playing the top courses throughout the country against some of the best in the sport appealed to the tall young athlete with the long drive. During the next decade she improved her game, rose through the ranks and placed in the top 10 in several key tournaments. She spent off-seasons as a teaching professional in Longboat Key where she first used computer equipment to supplement the classic “behind the tee” method of instruction.
After leaving the Tour in 1987, Dooley moved to Atlanta and continued her career as an instructor and club professional at Fox Creek Golf Club. She began developing an expertise in computer-aided instruction, which has become a mainstay of her teaching repertoire. Her reputation for excellence grew steadily as she continuously and consistently diagnosed golfers’ problems and offered practical, workable remedies in her inimitable style. In 1996, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution rated her “Best Female Golf Instructor,” noting her effectiveness with players of all levels of accomplishment.
Constantly seeking ways to help her students improve, Dooley, a Certified Personal Trainer, became interested in the work by a team of scientists at The American Sports Performance Institute at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. She knew the most effective instruction would incorporate computer and video technology with a well-designed conditioning program. In early 2000, she struck out on her own as an entrepreneur, at first concentrating on teaching the perfect golf swing through computer and video technology. With the development of Bentley Kinetics' K-Vest and the creation of her fitness program JumpStart Golf, Jeanne is realizing her dream of combining both golf instruction and conditioning.
Jeanne is certified in Biomechanics and in the Diagnostics of the Modern Golf Swing by the American Sports Performance Institute at Georgia Institute of Technology. She is also a certified Chek Golf Biomechanic and is currently working on her certification for The Golfing Machine.
